1. About this policy
Fisko Homes Ltd. (“Fisko Homes”, “we”, “us”, “our”) builds new homes and carries out renovations in Kamloops, British Columbia and surrounding communities. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to information we collect through our website, our social media advertising (including Facebook and Instagram lead forms), and by phone, email, text message, and in person. We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we reasonably need to respond to you and to provide our services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
-
Contact details: your name, phone number, email address, and city or mailing address.
-
Project information: whether you are interested in a new build or a renovation, your planned timeline, whether you own or are purchasing the property or land, the project location, and any details or documents you choose to share (for example plans, photos, or survey information).
-
Communications: records of calls, emails, text messages, and meetings with us, including notes about your project and quote.
-
Contract and payment information: if you become a client, information needed to prepare agreements, invoices, and payments.
-
Website and device information: your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and similar usage data collected through cookies and analytics tools.
3. How we collect it
-
Directly from you, when you fill out a form, call, email, or text us, request a quote, or meet with us.
-
Through Facebook and Instagram lead forms. When you submit a lead form on a Fisko Homes ad, the information you provide (such as your name, phone number, email, and your answers to our questions) is shared with us by Meta Platforms, Inc. and its affiliates (“Meta”). Meta’s handling of your information on its platforms is governed by Meta’s own privacy policy. Once we receive your information, this policy applies to our use of it.
-
Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies on our website.
4. Why we use your information
We use your personal information to:
-
respond to your enquiry and provide quotes for new builds and renovations;
-
discuss your project, schedule consultations or site visits, and follow up with you;
-
prepare contracts, carry out and manage your project, and provide service and warranty support;
-
send you information about our services that you have asked for or consented to;
-
operate, secure, and improve our website and our advertising;
-
keep business records and meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
We will not use your information for a purpose that a reasonable person would not expect without asking for your consent first.
5. Your consent
We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent, which may be express (for example, ticking a box on a form) or implied (for example, when you contact us to ask for a quote and we use your details to respond).
By submitting a form or giving us your contact details, you agree that Fisko Homes may contact you by phone, text message, and email about your enquiry and project. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us using the details in section 12. If you receive commercial emails or texts from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link or instructions in the message, or by contacting us. We comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only when necessary, and only with:
-
Service providers who help us run our business and who are required to protect your information, such as website hosting, email and messaging tools, customer relationship management (CRM) and spreadsheet or cloud storage tools, accounting and bookkeeping providers, and advertising and analytics providers (including Meta and Google).
-
Trades, suppliers, designers, engineers, and consultants involved in your project, to the extent needed to provide quotes or carry out the work.
-
Professional advisors and authorities such as lawyers, accountants, insurers, and government or regulatory bodies, where needed to meet legal obligations or protect our rights.
-
A successor business, if Fisko Homes is involved in a merger, sale, or reorganization, subject to confidentiality protections.
7. Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers (for example, cloud storage, email, and Meta) store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Your information may therefore be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including laws that allow government authorities to access it. You can contact us (section 12) if you would like more information about our service providers outside Canada.
8. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and measure and improve our advertising. These may include analytics tools and advertising pixels from Meta and Google. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device, and pages viewed, and may be used to show you Fisko Homes ads on other sites and platforms.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can manage ad preferences in your Facebook, Instagram, and Google account settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website works.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. For example, enquiry details that do not result in a project are kept for a reasonable period to allow for follow-up, and then deleted or anonymized. Client, contract, and financial records are kept as long as needed for warranty, legal, and tax purposes (generally at least the period required by Canadian tax and business laws). Lead information held in Meta’s tools is also subject to Meta’s retention practices.
10. How we protect your information
We use reasonable physical, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, such as password-protected accounts, limiting access to team members who need it, and using reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the authorities as required by law.
11. Your rights
You may ask us to:
-
tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used and disclosed;
-
correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
-
withdraw your consent or stop contacting you for marketing; and
-
delete your information, where we are not required or permitted to keep it.
We will respond within the time required by law. We may need to verify your identity first, and in limited cases the law allows us to decline a request, in which case we will explain why.
